The Kid Is Back

So just as any true Eminem fan (alright maybe obsessive Stan-like Eminem fan) would do, I obviously bought Relapse Refill yesterday when it hit stores….

Before I get into it, can we please talk real quick about how sucky FYE stores are now? They are dark little caves with weird pre-owned music and movies and shit everywhere. I guess the decline probably coincides with the decline in the CD/Music industry as a whole as everything is moving towards online…but shilt. I felt depressed just being in there…

Anyways…Eminem was supposed to be releasing his second album Relapse 2 around this time of year. Or at least that was the case when he first released Relapse in May…obviously things changed and he put out Refill with 7 “new” songs on there.

The 7 songs are good…I’m sure you’ve all heard “Forever,” with Drake, Weezy, and Kanye a hundred times….but when I started listening to Relapse again I realized that Eminem might actually be back. I wasn’t loving it when it first came out, even though it did grow on me, it just didn’t feel like an old Em album that I would put on front to back and vibe.

Maybe I changed…maybe he changed…maybe he was too sober…maybe I wasn’t sober enough….but the more I listen now the more hope I have for Relapse 2. Em is at a weird place right now…because a lot of today’s younger hip-hop fans don’t really feel him at all….

They want Weezy and Kanye…and obviously no one is bigger than Jay-Z…and I guess I can’t blame them. Em has been out of the lime light for a long ass time, I just hope he can come back killing it again, because my teas gone cold and I’m wondering why….
